Lamb of God

The Almighty, all powerful, all knowing God who created the universe....nothing was created that was not created through Him - emptied Himself to become the servant of all, to lay down His very life for us - who appreciate Him not. Lord grant us the gift of awe of Your sacrifice. Amen+

In the Tomb

Section of the east window in Soham Parish church. This depicts the guard set on Jesus' tomb
"And Joseph taking the body, wrapped it up in a clean linen cloth. 60 And laid it in his own new monument, which he had hewed out in a rock. And he rolled a great stone to the door of the monument, and went his way.
61 And there was there Mary Magdalen, and the other Mary sitting over against the sepulchre. 62 And the next day, which followed the day of preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees came together to Pilate, 63 Saying: Sir, we have remembered, that that seducer said, while he was yet alive: After three days I will rise again. 64 Command therefore the sepulchre to be guarded until the third day: lest perhaps his disciples come and steal him away, and say to the people: He is risen from the dead; and the last error shall be worse than the first. 65 Pilate saith to them: You have a guard; go, guard it as you know. " Matthew Chapter 26

Outstanding Last Supper

This is a detail from a stained glass window in the south transept of Burford's parish church, England
"While at supper with his disciples, Jesus was troubled in spirit and declared, ‘I tell you most solemnly, one of you will betray me.’ The disciples looked at one another, wondering which he meant. The disciple Jesus loved was reclining next to Jesus; Simon Peter signed to him and said, ‘Ask who it is he means’, so leaning back on Jesus’ breast he said, ‘Who is it, Lord?’ ‘It is the one’ replied Jesus ‘to whom I give the piece of bread that I shall dip in the dish.’ He dipped the piece of bread and gave it to Judas son of Simon Iscariot. At that instant, after Judas had taken the bread, Satan entered him." - John 13:21-27

Death of St. Joseph

Photo caption:

19 March is the Solemnity of St Joseph, spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary and foster-father of Jesus Christ. By tradition, St Joseph died in the arms of Mary and Jesus, and for this reason, he is the patron of the happy (blessed) death.

"Father, You made us in Your own image and Your Son accepted death for our salvation. Help us to keep watch in prayer at all times. May we be free from sin when we leave this world and rejoice in peace with You for ever. Amen."

This stained glass window is in the parish church in Lourdes, France.

Armed Man

The following is a quote from the photographer:
"L'homme, l'homme, l'homme armé,
L'homme armé
L'homme armé doibt on doubter, doibt on doubter.
On a fait partout crier,Que chascun se viengne armer
D'un haubregon de fer."
'The man, the man, the armed man,
The armed man
The armed man should be feared, should be feared.
Everywhere it has been proclaimed
That each man shall arm himself
With a coat of iron mail.'
This famous late medieval chanson seemed a fitting description of this mid-14th-century roundel from St Mary's church in Stanton St John.

Shepherds Adoring

The Lord Most High who holds all things within His power, emptied Himself and took on all the weaknesses of human flesh and was born into the humblest of circumstances. His holy birth was first announced to the lowliest people during this time - the shepherds. Shepherds were of the lowliest rank according to worldly thinking - but the ways of the Lord are not of this world. We are not to seek wordly acclaim, fame, power and riches, but rather build up treasure in Heaven.

Angel

My guess is this depicts the archangel Gabriel, he is often pictured with the long stemmed flower and with the one arm raised at the annunciation.

Keys of Peter

"And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven." Matthew 16:19
